O. D. McKee: founder of McKee Foods Corporation

McKee Foods Corporation, one of the oldest family run businesses in the world.
Born: 1905
Died: 1995

When O.D. McKee started selling snack cakes from the back of his family’s car in the early 1930s, he could not have foreseen that he was starting what would one day be a multimillion dollar company.  After all, he was no genius and had not done particularly well in school. He was just a simple man trying to feed his family.

But it was from such humble beginnings that McKee Foods Corporation was born. And it is the “Guiding Values” that McKee first established that still govern the company today.

Recognize the value and contribution of each individual, and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and well-being of employees and their families.

Conduct business ethically, honestly, and fairly, and treat everyone with respect.

Accept responsibility for our actions and act responsibly in our jobs and in our dealings with each other, our customers, and our communities.

Satisfy our customers with quality products and services, while providing the highest value.

Maximize the use of our resources to maintain profitability and to support continued growth.

Use creativity, teamwork, and continuous improvement to “find a better way.”
